Our trip to Chile in 2025 sounds like a breathtaking journey of extremes, transitioning from the high-altitude, otherworldly deserts of the north to the rugged, wind-swept peaks of the south. In the Atacama Desert, we experienced a surreal landscape of contrasts—from the salt-crusted Laguna Chaxa and the floatable waters of Laguna Cejar to the steaming Puritama hot springs and the celestial clarity of the night sky. Moving south through Punta Arenas to the gateway of Puerto Natales, the adventure shifted to the raw beauty of Patagonia. Our time in Torres del Paine was punctuated by the grueling yet rewarding 10-hour trek to the Base Towers, a feat made even more poignant by the inspiring sight of a fellow hiker overcoming incredible physical odds with his family by his side. Between exploring the ancient Milodon Caves, enjoying the local hospitality of a traditional Chilean estancia, and dining in the cozy restaurants of Puerto Natales, our journey captured the true spirit of Chile—a blend of vast natural wonders and deep human resilience.
