Day 1: Friday - Arrival and Historic Core

• Afternoon (Arrival & Check-in):

  • Arrive at Del Bajío International Airport (BJX) and take a taxi or bus to your hotel in Guanajuato city. The travel time from the airport to the city can be around 30-45 minutes.

  • Check in, drop off your luggage, and get ready to explore.

• Evening (City Center Exploration & Panoramic Views):

  • Begin your adventure by taking a walk through the beautiful Jardín de la Unión, a central park perfect for people-watching.

  • Visit the iconic Juárez Theater (Teatro Juárez) and explore the narrow streets.

  • As dusk approaches, take the funicular up to the Monumento al Pípila. This monument offers the most spectacular panoramic view of the city, especially as the sun sets and the city lights come on.

  • Enjoy a late dinner at one of the many restaurants in the city center.

Day 2: Saturday - Culture, History, and Markets

  • Head to the vibrant Mercado Hidalgo, a grand market hall with an impressive iron structure designed by Gustave Eiffel's workshop. You can find everything from fresh produce and local street food to crafts and souvenirs.

Day 3: Sunday - Santuario de Cristo Rey and Departure

• Morning (Santuario de Cristo Rey):

  • Start your day by traveling to the Santuario de Cristo Rey (Sanctuary of Christ the King). This iconic monument sits atop Cerro del Cubilete, a mountain that is considered the geographical center of Mexico. The drive is a bit outside of Guanajuato city, so plan for about an hour of travel time each way. The site offers stunning views and is a significant religious landmark.

• Afternoon (Last-Minute Exploration & Departure):

  • After your visit, head back to Guanajuato city.

  • Spend your last few hours walking around, visiting any sights you missed, or picking up final souvenirs.

  • Head back to Del Bajío International Airport (BJX) for your flight back to LAX.
