Our journey into Cambodia was an encounter with profound spirituality and ancient grandeur, a truly humbling experience. We found ourselves utterly absorbed by the sheer scale and intricate beauty of Angkor, particularly the sunrise over Angkor Wat, a moment that transcended mere sightseeing. Exploring the sprawling temple complex, from the enigmatic faces of Bayon to the tree-entwined ruins of Ta Prohm, felt like stepping into a forgotten epoch. Our explorations also led us to the sacred heights of Phnom Kulen, a mountain revered for its waterfalls and ancient carvings, and the vast, life-giving expanse of Tonlé Sap Lake, where we witnessed the unique rhythm of floating villages. Back in Siem Reap, the vibrant pulse of local life, from bustling markets to serene riverside cafes, offered a grounding counterpoint to the monumental history, revealing a nation of enduring grace and captivating resilience.
